This format is widely supported by web browsers and image viewers/editors. The best of the lossless image formats is called PNG (Portable Network Graphics). They are more suitable for things like logos. These store an exact pixel-by-pixel representation of the image, but require more space. We do not recommend using JPEG files for rasterized vector art, as the compression artifacts substantially degrade the quality of the image near edges. It has excellent compression characteristics and has the nice feature that the user may specify what level of compression they desire, trading off fidelity for file size. Ip subnet mask1/7/2024 ![]() ![]() First is a unicast, when one host sends a message to another host. ![]() Note: We have 3 types of communication (sending data). A full broadcast address has only ones in all octets, it is 255.255.255.255. A subnet directed broadcast is routed through the network as a unicast, until it reaches the last hop router, and here it is sent as a full broadcast to this subnet. This address has only ones in the host part. This address is used for a subnet directed broadcast, it is a message which is sent to all hosts in this subnet. The last IP address of a subnet cannot be assigned to the host either, but is a subnet broadcast address. This address has only zeros in the host part. This address identifies the subnetwork, it is called a network ID (or base address or network address). The first IP address of a subnet cannot be assigned to the host. We also have some IP address ranges with special meanings. We use private IP addresses to save the amount of public IP addresses. A common solution for address translation is NAT (Network Address Translation). Private IP addresses are used on a LAN (Local Area Network) and if you want to communicate to the internet you must translate this address to a public IP address. These addresses are used on the internet or other WAN (Wide Area Network) and could be routed in these networks. Public IP addresses are a major part of IP addresses. This is important when we calculate a number of subnets. Notice: Although use of CIDR, still is common to divide an IP address into 3 parts, where network numbers are done by class (even if we use a classless network), a subnet number is separated from this class, and the rest is a host part. Until today's subneting, which uses CIDR, where we use arbitrary network prefixes. So we can divide a class into more than one subnet with a lower count of hosts. Across classless networking, where we can take a part of a host number from a class and use this part as a subnet number. It started with classful networking, where a network prefix was firmly done by an IP address (and its class). ![]() During the evolution of IP subneting there were a lot of changes. IP address partsīasically an IP address has two parts, a network-identifying prefix followed by a host address within that network. If you want to find the IP address of your computer (often a private address), you can use a command ipconfig or ipconfig /all on Windows OS or ifconfig on Linux OS. Note: I'm writing here about older and still-in-use Internet Protocol Version 4 (IPv4), but there is a new Version 6 of this protocol (IPv6) which uses 128 bits for the address and offers many more addresses. These address blocks correspondent to geological locations. Public addresses are managed by IANA (Internet Assigned Numbers Authority) and blocks of addresses are allocated to Local Internet Registries. An IP address indicates the logical location of a device. IP addresses are stored as 32-bit binary numbers, but they are displayed as four decimal numbers divided with a dot (dot-decimal notation), example 68.12.5.10. What is an IP address?Īn IP (Internet Protocol) address is a logical address of a device in a computer network using IP protocol (works on Layer 3 of ISO/OSI model). Virtual LAN (VLANs) are used to have more subnets on one switch. Dividing a network into smaller parts is also good for performance, because broadcasts (packets sent to everyone) don't cross a subnet border. Communication between subnets is done by routers. Network devices in an IP subnet have a common IP address prefix. Another reason is because we need to assigne some addresses to some organizations. So we divide a networks into smaller parts (hierarchically) and these parts are called subnetworks. What is a subnet (subnetwork)?īecause real networks are really large, we can't communicate directly with all computers. Some frequently used technologies are Ethernet, with protocol TCP/IP, for Local Area Network (LAN - cover a small geographical area and provide high bandwidth with low delays) and Frame Relay for Wide Area Network (WAN - interconnecting of LANs). We can classify networks by many parameters. The reason for using a computer network is to share sources. A computer network is a connection of two or more computers some form of telecommunication system. ![]() ![]() ![]() This app works with various iPad MIDI hardware interfaces, but in this article, Ill be showing how to connect it wirelessly via your Mac and iPads built-in Wi-Fi. For example, a puppet can smoke and breathe out a smoke ring ¨C with operator help. The scene is simple and primitive it is the consummate performance that attracts the audience. The stage for the play is a white cloth screen on which the shadows of flat puppets are projected. Shadow puppet looks similar to paper-cut except that their joints are connected by thread so that they can be operated freely. ![]() These ancient musical instruments enhance this ancient folk art. That is not all the singer also plays several of the over 20 kinds of musical instruments in a puppet show. This singer assumes all the roles in the puppet show, which of course is very difficult. One operates the puppets, one plays a horn, a suo-na horn, and a yu-kin, one plays banhu fiddle, one is in charge of percussion instruments, and one sings. Nicknamed the business of the five, a shadow puppet troupe is made up of five people. One mouth tells stories of thousands of years a pair of hands operates millions of soldiers. Shadow puppetry wins the heart of an audience by its lingering music, exquisite sculpture, brisk color and lively performance. Today, the show faces extinction like other traditional art forms such as Nuo Drama. It was not until 1821 that shadow puppet shows gained some vigor. From 1796 to 1800, the government forbade the public showing of puppet shows to prevent the spreading of peasant uprising at the time. When the Manchu rulers spread their rule to various parts of China, they brought the puppet show with them to make up for the fact that they could not appreciate local entertainment due to language barriers. In Beijing, for example, during the reign of Emperor Kangxi, this folk art was so popular that there were eight generously paid puppeteers in one prince's mansion. This story recorded in the official history book is believed to be the origin of shadow puppetry. The emperor was delighted and took to it from then on. As night fell, he invited the emperor to watch a rear-illuminated puppet show behind a curtain. He made a cotton puppet of the concubine and painted it. Inspired by this scene, the smart minister hit upon an idea. One day, a minister happened to see children playing with dolls where the shadows on the floor were vivid. They have developed very high skills of puppet making and great attention is given to lighting, music and the scenic aspects of the show, which still remains firmly within the domain of popular puppetry and ensures the active role of the audience.More than 2,000 years ago, a favorite concubine of Wu Emperor of the Han Dynasty died of illness the emperor missed her so much that he lost his desire to reign. The Lamberts have always played mainly for children with a repertoire ranging from Oscar Wilde stories to Aladdin, Cinderella, Sinbad, Hansel and Gretel and the Three Little Pigs. At the same time over some twenty years the company set off almost every day in a van to give shows in the four corners of Ireland, often presenting two or three shows in the course of the day. In 1970, he bought a large house in Monkstown, a Dublin suburb, and established a puppet theatre in the mews at the rear. This show allowed Lambert the possibility of amassing enough capital to realize his great dream of opening his own puppet theatre. Between 19, they had a hugely successful series called Wanderley Wagon, which combined puppets and actors (including Eugene Lambert himself) and was the programme in which chromakey was first used in Ireland. In 1965, the Lamberts were engaged by Ireland’s first and only television channel and for a few years presented a children’s marionette programme in Irish every week called Murphy agus a chairdhe (Murphy and His Friends). He and his wife built up their family company in which each of their ten children participated as soon as they were old enough. He remained an outstanding ventriloquist throughout his life, but also, without any specific background or training, turned towards puppets. Eugene Lambert by the early 1960s had already a certain reputation as a ventriloquist and was performing in clubs and Variety theatres in Ireland and the UK (see Variety and Music Hall, Ventriloquism). You might also have to sand your blade a bunch to get it to a position where it is comfortable to hold for extended periods.Today, I wanted to share a tip for addressing handwriting pressure…using a pen grip! Pencil pressure when writing is something that comes up a lot. I imagine it takes a while to build up resistance to use the v-grip regularly. The skin in between your index and middle finger gets very sore after only a short while. Although it may seem odd, I recommend using your non-playing hand to help change your grip - you should have enough time to do it.Īnd the final gripe is just how uncomfortable the bat is to hold. ![]() Your best bet is to transition to regular shakehand for smashes. Bar the extreme backhand shakehand grip, smashing feels great for all the grips, but not with this one. ![]() The handle also gets in the way for backhand flicks, so I ended up placing it below my wrist for flicking on that side.Īnother issue is that smashing is very weak. Wrist mobility is actually really poor here - that’s the price you pay for improved wrist mobility for topspin strokes. This begins with pushing which feels awkward. Understandably this grip has quite a lot of issues which explains why you never see it. But I do think it could be very effective at a club level. Now do I think this could work well at the top level? Certainly not. The altered angle makes wrist mobility much easier.Īs such, I hypothesize that you can produce tonnes of topspin with a much shorter stroke length because you can rely on the wrist. But with the v-grip, your wrist rotation shifts. This is partly because of the orientation of the wrist. The loop is probably the shot that comes to mind - it has a long stroke length and limited wrist movement. Think about the nature of heavy topspin shots in today’s game. What excites me about this grip is the promise for short spinny topspin strokes. And then for all topspin strokes on either flank, you use the opposing rubber. There’s very minimal footage of the grip online, but as best I can tell, you use one side of the rubber for pushes on the forehand and backhand side. The thing I find so fascinating about the v-grip is how fundamentally different it is from all of the other grips. ![]() However, the feeling and mobility of the shakehand grip is still very good so I don’t consider it a weakness. The penhold grip has better feeling than the shakehand grip and increased mobility. So in all likelihood, you’ll rarely face a player who doesn’t have an inherent weakness in the crossover as these are the two most popular grips.Īnother area you could make a case for weakness is the reduced feeling and spin. That being said, this weakness is also shared by the new version of the Chinese penhold grip known as the reverse penhold backhand, or RPB for short. Therefore you need to decide early whether to go backhand or forehand so that you can move to get your feet in the right place. ![]() You don’t have a lot of time to react to quick balls that land in this vicinity. For many people, balls that land here are hard to deal with. This is the point in line with your shoulder where you have to decide whether to play a forehand or backhand shot. In my opinion, there is only really one weak area when it comes to the shakehand grip and that is the crossover. ![]() Divine drag queen donald trump1/6/2024 ![]() Fortunately, the rule of law doesn’t take into consideration any fake media polls."Īnother user wrote, "No, they don't, you just made that up. Here is more information on my kayaking trip I took. The best option would be to go with a guide service, and there are multiple that will take you on day trips or overnight trips. This requires you to navigate ocean waters yourself from the island though, and should only be done by experienced kayakers. If you arrange it beforehand, you can rent a kayak and have the boat company take it over for you (but only a certain amount can go on each boat). Kayaking is the last big adventure on the Scorpion part of Santa Cruz Island. You can see a lot more hikes below I will link to them as I post about them. You can combine Smuggler’s Cove with Scorpion Canyon and go to the oil well and back down Scorpion Canyon on the way back. If you are camping, then I would recommend trying to do all of the above recommendations. If you have to pick one, this is probably the best for coastal island views. It is about 5 miles, and you are hiking along the bluffs for half of the hike, making it incredibly picturesque with tons of great views. Lastly, if you are looking for a great coastal trail, then I would recommend Potato Harbor to the Bluffs Trail then to Cavern Point. It heads out on the Smuggler’s Cove trail but splits inland, visiting an old oil well before heading down into a wide canyon at the very end of the trial. If you are looking to explore the interior of the island a little bit, then the 4.5-mile trail called Scorpion Canyon is a good one. The hike is 8 miles roundtrip, with some decent elevation gain, so you want to make sure you have enough time to complete it based on when you arrive and your hiking speed. If you are taking a day trip, then I would recommend one of three hiking trails.įirst, Smugglers Cove is the most popular trail on the island and for good reason as it is beautiful. When you get back on the boat to head over to Ventura, you can buy some snacks though. There is no food to purchase on Santa Cruz Island, so you must bring everything you need. Even though they are cute, do not feed them. I saw probably a dozen or so when I was there as they are always walking around the campsites. They really are a fun addition to the island though, as they are adorable and about the size of an average cat. The foxes here are sneaky, and I saw them steal food from people while I was there. FoxesĮach site has fox boxes, and you will want to make sure you store your food in these. There are multiple water spigots, so you do not need to bring water when you go over to the island. I found the campsites to be big and well laid out. Be sure you can carry any gear you bring that far. The upper is mainly for groups, so lower is probably what you will choose. The walk from the dock to the campsite is about 10 minutes to the lower campground and 15-20 minutes to the upper campground. You will then get an orientation from the ranger before going to your campsite. On our trip, we saw both whales and dolphins, and it was a blast stopping to see those on the way to the island.Īfter the ride, you dock at the island, and they will help you unload all the gear. The trip is about an hour but can take an hour and a half if they see marine animals and stop. The email the boating company sends tells you about equipment requirements and check in times. Here are links to the boat and campground.Īfter booking your campsite and boat ride, you just need to arrive on time to check in your gear and get ready to board the ship. ![]() Prisoner’s Harbor has backcountry camping, so if that is what you are looking for, then that is an option as well, but for most people, Scorpion is where they will be going. Scorpion is the most popular place to visit on the island, as it is the most developed water, toilets, and a large campground. Above is a video I made to help you understand the process. I recommend checking to see if a campsite and boat ride are available then booking the campsite first since that is the cheapest, then the boat trip. You can just go as a day trip (more on that below), but since you are spending the time and money to get over there, you might as well take your time.
